Who told you that?
Posted by Pastor Kurt | Filed under Web Clips
After the fall, Adam began to explain to God how he was ashamed and afraid because he was naked.
I love the way God responded:
“Who told you that you were naked?” Genesis 3:11
Obviously Adam had been influenced, informed and instructed by a voice other than the voice of God. God was perturbed about it!
“You think you need to hide in shame and be afraid?
Who told you that?”
I wonder how many times God has the same objection when He hears the lies we believe:
Who told you that?
Who told you weren’t capable?
Who told you one little compromise wouldn’t hurt?
Who told you you’d never accomplish anything significant?
Who told you it was too late to start over?
Who told you that you couldn’t be forgiven?
Who told you that you had to settle for that?
Who told you you’d never gain victory over that sin pattern?
So many voices compete to create a cacophony of confusion concerning the things we believe about ourselves.
God’s voice resonates with clarity, wisdom, and vision.
Who misled you?
Who talked you out of your dream?
Who convinced you that you didn’t measure up?
Who told you that?

YouTube dangers: You’ve been warned
Posted by Pastor Kurt | Filed under Christianity In Crisis, My Family, The Moral Decline, Web Clips

In my own home, I treat every media type with great responsibility, because I know the power it has to influence my son and two daughters. But the Internet is a special case because in an instant, our kids can take it anywhere—from the most innocent children’s game to the most vile adult content. That’s why YouTube is especially dangerous. It’s incredibly popular, and it bridges the gap between innocent and insidious, making it so easy for pure intentions to wander into temptations and sin.
A new study by the Parent’s Television Council proved just that. It found that explicit content is many times only one click away from children. Even sample searches on YouTube for child-friendly topics like “Miley Cyrus” led to offensive content, and many blatantly pornographic videos did not require any form of age verification.
In other words, your kids can—and probably already have—gone on YouTube to watch a perfectly innocent video, and without even trying, they were exposed to much more than you wanted them to see.
We cannot be stand-offish about what our kids are doing online. It is a cultural battleground and we too often let them wander right into the middle of it!
Here are a few steps you can take to protect your teens:
- Talk with your teens about the dangers of the Internet.
- Teach them to “run at first glance” if they ever come across something questionable, even if they weren’t looking for it.
- Keep computers in open, public places, like the living room. This is the easiest and best way to protect your entire family because it keeps everyone accountable.
- Use an internet filtering service like Net Nanny.
- Build open relationships with your teens by spending quality time with them every day.
- If you’re a youth pastor or work with students, take time to talk with them about the risks of YouTube and other websites.
Thank you for caring enough to learn about the critical issues facing this generation today. And please pray with me for God’s protection and blessing over our young people and children.
Consumed by the Call,
Ron
Founder and President

Obama To Allow Taxpayer Funds to be Used to Pay for Abortion…
Posted by Pastor Kurt | Filed under Christianity In Crisis, Randomness, The Moral Decline, Web Clips

President-elect Barack Obama is considering issuing an executive order to reverse a controversial Bush administration abortion policy in his first week in office, three Democratic sources said Monday.
Obama’s second full day as president falls on the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion in the United States.
The sources said Obama may use the occasion to reverse the “Mexico City policy” reinstated in 2001 by Bush that prohibits U.S. money from funding international family planning groups that promote abortion or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion services. It bans any organization receiving family planning funds from the U.S. Agency for International Development from offering abortions or abortion counseling.
The “Mexico City policy,” commonly referred to by critics as “the global gag rule,” was devised by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 at a population conference in Mexico City.
President Bill Clinton lifted the ban in January 1993 as one of his first acts as president, but President George W. Bush reinstated it in his first executive order on January 22, 2001, the 28th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
At the time, critics — including Planned Parenthood — called the move a “legislative ambush.”
Bush defended the action, saying then: “It is my conviction that taxpayer funds should not be used to pay for abortion or actively promote abortion.”
