We’ve all been there: the never-ending meeting. What started out as a potentially interesting presentation about a new start-up company has turned into “death by PowerPoint.” When the presenter finally stops talking and the lights turn back on, all you can remember is that you almost fell asleep.

While resting one evening by the side of the road
I saw an old farmer in the field he’d just hoed
His face was all brown and wrinkled by the wind
And he was talking to the Lord, just like he’d be talking to a friend

Martin Luther Quotes…

Every man must do two things alone; he must do his own believing and his own dying.
Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave.
To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.
Peace if possible, but truth at any rate.
In our sad condition our only consolation is the expectancy of another life. Here below all is incomprehensible.
Martin Luther - 1483-1546. German priest and scholar whose questioning of certain church practices led to the Protestant Reformation.

‘Believers in Jesus’ Believe in Selling Booze to Minors…

Article quoted from the Bakersfield Californian:
Among the businesses busted at the Kern County Fair for selling alcohol to minors were Believers in Jesus and the Bakersfield Host Lions Club.
The people who actually served the will be fined because of the misdemeanor citation. The businesses, however, could face action by Alcohol Beverage Control.

Have You Tried Google Chrome?
Posted by Pastor Kurt | Filed under My Free Time, Randomness, Web Clips

Everyone watch out! Big Brother (Google) has entered the shark infested waters of the internet browser market. Yesterday, Google made available their new internet browser called ‘Google Chrome’. And from what I can gather (which is not much) they have a hit on their hands.
Let me point out some of the good and bad that i have noticed about chrome.
- Chrome is noticeably fast - Good
- Chrome feels light (Not Bloated) - Good
- Chrome looks clean and doesn’t clutter up your monitor - Good
- Chrome acts like it knows your next move - I’m not sure if that is Good or Bad
- The Chrome icon reminds me of the ‘Simon Game’ and that brings back ‘not so good’ feelings - Bad
- Chrome lacks any form of customization - Bad
- Chrome is from Google which means that it (the browser) is probably sending your browsing history (and who knows what else) to their Google bunker in Nor Cal so they can use the information to tweak advertising and search results to make more Google money. - Bad
Their is that uneasy, sinking feeling that Google is taking over the world and they are the mark of the beast, but just like in the movie, “if you build it (a better browser) they will come.”

The Wal-Mart Jesus…
Posted by Pastor Kurt | Filed under Christianity In Crisis, My Family, The Moral Decline, Web Clips

The new Wal-Mart Supercenter just opened up in my town, and man, what a sight! It’s a mammoth structure of utilitarian architecture that houses everything from a grocery to a garden center, along with every dry good you can imagine from fashion wear to office supplies. And people just flock there because it’s one-stop shopping, famous low prices, and a quick get in and get out affair. It is an amazing achievement in the history of American consumerism.
Oh, and don’t forget about the official Smiley Face mascot greeting you on every sign. It just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside as you spend your money to save money.
The only problem is that the former Wal-Mart building in town is now vacant since the retail giant moved its local operation to the new Supercenter facility. Hard to believe that twenty years ago this smaller Wal-Mart store was the shining Camelot on the hill for local shoppers. Now it’s just a castle ruin, an empty shell of its former glory as the company moves on to bigger and better things. Alas, a sign of the times, I’m afraid.
